Skin Cancer Screenings
A skin cancer screening is a visual assessment of your skin by Dr. Forman and trained professional staff. All areas of the skin are examined from the scalp down to the toes. Our medical professional team will look for any suspicious lesions like basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinomas, atypical moles and malignant melanoma. It is recommended to have a yearly skin cancer screening with your dermatologist.
Skin Cancer Surgery
Dr. Forman and his team of medical professionals are trained to remove skin cancer in various ways. Depending on the type of skin cancer that presents, Dr. Forman and his professional staff will discuss with you the appropriate treatment options and create a plan suitable for you.
Non-Surgical treatment for Skin Cancer
Low dose radiation for skin cancers (Basal Cell Carcinomas and Squamous Cell Carcinomas)
If your physician has diagnosed you with non-melanoma skin cancer, SRT is a safe and effective non-surgical option for your treatment.
The two most common kinds of skin cancer are basal cell cancer and squamous cell cancer. Basal cell cancer is a slow-growing cancer that seldom spreads to other parts of the body. Squamous call cancer also rarely spreads, but it does so more often than basal cell cancer. However, it is important that skin cancers be found and treated early because they can invade and destroy nearby tissue.*
HOW DOES RADIATION WORK?
Radiation is a very important tool in the fight against cancer. When radiation interacts with a cancerous cell, it alters the cell’s DNA (or genetic make-up) and its ability to reproduce, which ultimately leads to cell death in the cancerous tumor.
WHAT IS SRT?
Superficial Radiotherapy (SRT), is a low energy radiotherapy that penetrates only a short distance below the surface of the skin, is a highly effective, painless, and cosmetically attractive alternative to surgery in selected cancers and patient populations. The SRT-100™ is the newest and most advanced choice for superficial radiotherapy available today. It is painless and very similar to having an x-ray.
